The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     In 1972, the House Select Committee on Legislative Apportionment and the House Select Committee on Congressional Redistricting were established under the provisions of Ch. 69-52, Laws.  The Florida Constitution requires that the state legislature redraw the boundaries of its voting districts after each decennial census (Article III, Section 16, 1968 Constitution).  These Committees jointly reviewed reapportionment legislation for the 1970 census.
Summary:     This series contains records from 1959 to 1972 of the House Select Committee on Legislative Apportionment and the House Select Committee on Congressional Redistricting.  The records include bill files, maps, meeting files, and subject files.  The records from 1959 to 1972 are miscellaneous reference materials.  It documents legislation on the redrawing of the boundaries of the election districts based on the 1970 census.
