The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     In November 1996, the House of Representatives reorganized the standing House committees into Councils.  Except for the Procedural Council, each council shall consist of a chair, the chair of each of the standing committees within the council, and such other members as may be designated by the Speaker in accordance with Rule 17.  The Councils shall rank each of the bills upon referral in order of importance to the House and shall forward such ranking to the Speaker.  The ranking shall be amended as the council receives additional reports at least once each calendar week and no more than twice in a calendar week.  Councils may return bills available for ranking to the appropriate standing committee with a request for further consideration including but not limited to combining two or more bills into a committee substitute.
    Organized in 1999, the Civil Justice Council consists of the following committees: House Claims, House Family Law & Children, House Judiciary, and House Real Property & Probate.  In 2008, the council was reformed as the House Criminal & Civil Justice Policy Council.
Summary:     This series contains records from the Criminal & Civil Justice Policy Council and the Civil Justice Council.  The records contain bill files, meeting files, correspondence, and other materials that document the council meetings.  These meetings were held to discuss legislation referred to the council from member committees relating to, but not limited to, child protection/dependency court improvement project, child support enforcement and guidelines, visitation rights, money judgement enforcement, driving offenses/liabilities, medical negligence actions, wrongful death, and uniform child custody jurisdiction and enforcement.
