The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Citizens' Committee on Education was established by Governor Askew's Executive Order Number 71-40.  Its function was to study and make recommendations on all phases of education in Florida.  The Committee was to submit a final report to the Legislature, Board of Education, and Governor prior to the convening of the 1973 regular Legislative session.  The Committee was composed of 22 members who were appointed by the Governor.
Summary:     This series contains the meeting files of the Citizens' Committee on Education from 1971 to 1973.  The records include correspondence, memoranda, agenda, minutes, reports, presentations, and audiotape recordings of some of the meetings.
