Biographical/Historical:     In 1976, the Senate Committee on Economic, Community, and Consumer Affairs (1976-1988) became a standing committee with a permanent staff under the provisions of Ch. 68-35, Laws.  The Committee reviewed legislation regarding economic development, community affairs, and consumer protection.  In 1988, the Committee was dissolved; and its duties were divided between the Senate Committee on Economic, Professional, and Utility Regulation (1988-1990) and the Senate Committee on Community Affairs (1990-present).  In 1990, the Senate Committee on Economic, Professional, and Utility Regulation was divided into the Senate Commitee on Professional Regulation (1990-present) and the Senate Committee on International Trade, Economic Development and Tourism (1990-present).
Summary: This series contains audiotaped recordings of the Senate Committee on Economic, Community, and Consumer Affairs from 1976 to 1988.  The tapes document committee and subcommittee meetings and contain discussion on legislation pertaining to economic, community, and consumer affairs.  It includes legislation on local governments and intergovernmental relations; building codes and standards; housing; emergency preparedness; handicapped accessibility; veterans affairs; comprehensive and regional planning; international trade; tourism; professional regulation; occupational licensing; and public utilities.  The tapes are not transcribed or indexed.
