Biographical/Historical:     In 1970, the Senate Committee on Commerce became a standing committee with a permanent staff under the provisions of Ch. 68-35, Laws. The committee reviews legislation on financial institutions and securities regulations; consumer finance; corporations; economic development and international trade; tourism and cultural affairs; labor and industrial relations; trade regulations and commercial law; unemployment compensation; and workers' compensation.
Summary:     This series contains recordings of Committee on Commerce (1970-1994), Select Committee on Business Development (1988), Select Committee on the Lottery (1987), Select Committee on Seaports, (1989), Select Committee on Pari-mutuel Wagering (1991), Select Committee on Workers Compensation (1993), Conference Committee on Tort Reform (1986), Joint Working Group on Medical Malpractice (1987-1988), Conference Committee on Workers Compensation (1993), Commerce and Economic Opportunities (1995-2002), Commerce, Economic Opportunities, and Consumer Services (2003-2004), Commerce and Consumer Affairs (2005-2006), Policy and Steering Committee on Commerce and Industry (2008-2010), and Commerce and Tourism (2010-2023) meetings.The recordings document committee, select committee, and subcommittee meetings and contain discussion on legislation pertaining to commercial matters.
