The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     In 1990, the Senate Committee on Judiciary (1990-present) became a standing committee with a permanent staff under the provision of Ch. 68-35, Laws.  The Committee reviews legislation on civil courts; judicial qualifications; probate law and procedures; family laws; uniform laws; tort reform; and other civil matters.  From 1968 to 1970, the Committee also handled criminal matters.  Since 1970, the Senate Committee handling civil judicial matters has been re-established under various names:  Judiciary-Civil (1970-1972); Judiciary (1973-1974); Judiciary-Civil (1974-1990); and Judiciary (1990-present).
Summary:     This series contains the records of the Committee on Judiciary-Civil (1967-1972, 1975-1990), Judiciary (1973-1974, 1991-2023), Select Committee to Investigate Crime and Law Enforcement (1967-1968), Select Committee on Litigation Reform (1997-1998), and Study Committee on Public Records (2002). The records include bill files, meeting files, and subject files. Records document legislation on civil courts, judicial qualifications, probate law, procedures, family laws, uniform laws, tort reform, and other civil matters.
