Biographical/Historical:     In 1973, the Senate Committee on Consumer Affairs (1973-1974) became a standing committee with a permanent staff under the provisions of Ch. 68-35, Laws.  The Committee reviewed legislation on consumer protection issues.  Consumer affairs was handled by the Senate Committee on Commerce from 1970 to 1973 and again in 1975, and by the Senate Committee on Economic, Community, and Consumer Affairs from 1976 to 1988.
Summary:     This series contains the records of the Senate Committee on Consumer Affairs from 1973 to 1974.  The records include bill files, meeting files, and subject files.  The records document legislation on consumer protection issues including landlord-tenate, land sales, mobile homes, auto repair, condominiums, solar energy, deceptive trade practices, hotels and restaurants, funeral directors, and cemeteries.
