Summary:     This series contains files maintained by the State Health Office regarding the planning and implementing of the Florida public health centennial celebration in 1989.  The records include correspondence, meeting files, articles, and publications.  It documents the activities of the Florida Public Health Association Centennial Committee which coordinated the centennial celebration.
    The bulk of the records are articles on the history and progress of public health in Florida.  This material was collected to update and revise Dr. Albert Y. Hardy's history of public health in Florida, originally published in 1964.  Also included are biographical information, articles, and publications by the State Health Officers, Joseph Y. Porter, Henry Hanson, and Wilson T. Sowder.
    The reference files contain information on the programs of the State Board of Health, the Division of Health, the Health Program Office, the State Health Office, and the Dept. of Health and Rehabilitative Services.  There is information on the public health programs in Escambia, Leon, Marion, Monroe, Polk, SantaRosa, and Volusia Counties.  Also included is a health evaluation report, 1978, on the Miccosukee Indians of Florida.
