The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Florida Mediation and Conciliation Service was created by the Legislature in 1957 (Ch. 57-306, Laws), the objective of which was the prevention and amicable settlement of labor problems.  The governor, by and through the Florida Mediation and Conciliation Service, was authorized to promote, assist, and encourage the maintenance of mutually satisfactory employer-employee relationships within Florida.  The Service offered assistance to both parties involved in a labor dispute in an attempt to effect a voluntary, amicable, and expeditious adjustment and settlement.
Summary:     This series contains the records of the Florida Mediation and Conciliation Service, 1957-1969.  Included are special dispute and arbitration case files, special activities files, activity reports, correspondence, federal files, and subject files.
