Summary:     This series contains correspondence, memoranda, forms, and reports dealing with the state's involvement in the litigation stemming from the ramming by a ship of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge at the mouth of Tampa Bay in 1980.  This collision precipitated the death of thirty-five people.  The Attorney General of Florida, the General Counsel of the Dept. of Transportation, and a contract law firm handled the various aspects of the law suits.  These suits were aimed at proving a liability, on the part of the ship's owner, that was extended beyond the limit set by admiralty law.  The claim was made that the ship and crew were not seaworthy, and therefore the ship owner's liability was extended.
