The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Organized Crime Control Council was created by Executive Order of Governor Reubin Askew in 1974.  The Council was funded by a joint federal/state grant, with the state funding coming from the Dept. of Criminal Law Enforcement.  The Council was terminated in 1976 with the expiration of the grant period; its primary functions were assumed by the Council for the Prevention of Organized Crime. The Organized Crime Control Council provided studies of organized crime and promoted public awareness of organized crime activities in Florida.
Summary:     The series contains the administrative files of the Organized Crime Control Council from 1974 to 1976.  The records include the executive order creating the Council, minutes of meetings, memoranda, appointments of members, programs, and supporting documents including reports, newsletters, and correspondence.
