Summary:     This series contains some information pertaining to the timber industry for a five year period in the nineteenth century.  One volume contains the names of those who had permits for cutting timber on state lands.  The entries include the description of the area to be timbered, the type of tree and where the timber was to be taken for milling and or transshipment.  This volume covers from June 1879 to July 1884.  A second volume is an index to permits granted but has no date.  Some loose bits of paper record: a statement of rates for state lands [copy of a resolution?] (n.d.); an application to cut timber on state lands (1880); a permit for cutting on state lands (1879); and copies of appointment papers for timber agent (1883 & 1884).
