Summary:     This series consists of a ledger of funds received for the redemption of lands, dated 1881-1890.  It was maintained by the Commissioner of Lands and Immigration or the Commissioner of Agriculture for the State Land Office.  The ledger documents the redemption by settlers of lands purchased by the state and counties for non-payment of taxes prior to 1877.  Legislation passed in 1881 (Ch. 3234, Laws) allowed lands to be redeemed by the owners if the taxes since 1877 and the cost of advertising were paid.  The ledger lists the date of redemption, the county in which the land was located, the individual who redeemed it, the sequential number assigned to the purchase, and the amount paid.
