The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Dept. of Air and Water Pollution Control was created in 1969 (Ch. 69-109, Laws) to supersede the Florida Air and Water Pollution Control Commission.  It was renamed the Dept. of Pollution Control in 1972 (Ch. 72-22, Laws).  It was responsible for the development and enforcement of programs for the prevention, abatement, and control of air and water pollution.  It was governed by the Air and Water Pollution Control Board which was appointed by the Governor.
Summary:     The series contains subject files from 1969 to 1971 of Nathaniel P. Reed, who served as Special Assistant to the Governor and acted as Chairman of the Air and Water Pollution Control Board.  The records consist of correspondence, memos and reports related to pollution and environmental conditions.
