The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Florida Air and Water Pollution Control Commission was created in 1967 (Ch. 67-436, Laws) to supersede the Florida Air Pollution Control Commission (Ch. 57-369, Laws).  It was responsible for the development of programs for the prevention, abatement, and control of air and water pollution.  It issued and enforced orders necessary to ensure compliance with these programs.  In 1969, its duties were transferred to the Dept. of Air and Water Pollution Control (Ch. 69-106, Laws) which was renamed the Dept. of Pollution Control in 1972 (Ch. 71-22, Laws).
Summary:     The series contains reel-to-reel audio recordings from 1959 to 1969 of proceedings of the Florida Air and Water Pollution Control Commission and its predecessor, the Florida Air Pollution Control Commission.  It documents the topics of discussion, decisions made, and action taken by the Commission at its meetings, workshops, or hearings.  The series reflects the Commission's interest in protecting Florida's environment and contains information specific to industrial waste management, air pollution, and water pollution.
