Summary:     This series contains copies of Murphy Act Quitclaim Deeds relative to the release of oil, mineral, and right-of-way reservations included in the original Murphy Act Deeds from 1940 to 1978.  These records were maintained by the Dept. of Natural Resources, and its predecessors, the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund (Ch. 75-22, Laws), and the Trustees of Internal Improvement Fund.
    The Murphy Act (Ch. 18296, Laws, 1937) provided for the sale of tax certificates, and the lands on which they were levied, to the highest bidder.  After four years, any unsold land reverted to the state for sale by the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund.
