The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Educational Survey Commission of the State of Florida was created in 1927 (Chapter 12011, Laws of Florida) to examine the public educational system in Florida. Its five members, appointed by the Governor, conducted a survey of all schools and educational institutions supported by public taxation and prepared a report of its survey and recommendations for improvements. The Department of Public Instruction assisted the Commission and provided access to all school records and facilities. The Survey Commission report was sent to the Legislature in April 1929 and the Commission abolished.

Summary:     The series contains the report, dated April 2, 1929, that the Educational Survey Commission transmitted to the Legislature. The report includes a listing of commission members and staff involved, proposed legislation, charts, graphs, illustrations, and disbursements. It covers various educational issues such as curriculum, teacher education, vocational education, health conditions, and textbooks.
