The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical: ****DEACCESSIONED****Florida State University is located in Tallahassee, Florida. The institution was chartered in 1851 and has been state-assisted since 1857.  It operated under several different names until 1909, when it became Florida State College for Women.  In 1947, the name was changed to Florida State University and the institution was made coeducational.  It is part of the State University System which is part of the Division of Universities in the Dept. of Education.  The university president is appointed by the Board of Regents.
Summary: ****DEACCESSIONED****This series contains the subject files of the Vice President for University Relations from 1974 to 1980.  The records include correspondence, reports, minutes, memoranda, and photographs. Topics include affirmative action, athletics, the history of Florida State University, legislative material, financial aid, and summer enrollment.  Boxes 17-27 are the files of Dr. Allen Sapp, a staff member in the Office.  The Office of Vice President for University Relations was held by Dr. Steve McClellan from 1973-1977, and he was succeeded by Patrick W. Hogan.
