The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical Note:     The Bicentennial Commission of Florida was created in 1970 (Ch. 70-212, Laws of Florida) as part of the Department of Commerce.  The commission planned and developed Florida's participation in the commemoration of the American Revolution and the Declaration of Independence; identified sites in Florida for Bicentennial observance; and cooperated with the Miami Bicentennial Committee in planning an international exposition.  The commission was under the direction of the American Revolution Bicentennial Association, which provided funds and guidelines for state distribution to local Bicentennial committees.  The commission was dissolved in 1977 (Ch. 77-203, Laws).
