The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical Note:     The Florida Commission for Tax Reform was created in 1967 (Ch. 67-426, Laws of Florida) to study the state tax structure at all levels. Recommendations and proposals were to be made by the Commission to the President of the Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Governor Claude Kirk.  The Commission was composed of fifteen members:  five from the Senate, five from the House, and five appointed by the Governor.  The firm of Peat, Marwick, Mitchell and Company was hired by the Commission to prepare the report on the tax structure.  The Commission presented its report and was subsequently abolished in 1969 (Ch. 69-106, Laws).
