The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical Note:     The post of Territorial Auditor of Public Accounts was created on November 22, 1829.  The Auditor was appointed by the Governor and the Legislative Council to certify and audit the Treasurer's accounts and warrants.  In 1831, the Auditor's duties were broadened to include the examination, settling, and auditing of all claims, accounts, and demands against the Treasury and the drawing of warrants.  The Auditor also kept records on all monies and reported the balances to the Legislative Council at the start of each session.  When Florida became a state in 1845, the duties of the Auditor passed to the Comptroller.
