The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical Note:     The Division of Professions was created in 1969 (Ch. 69-106, Laws) as part of the Dept. of Professional and Occupational Regulation to coordinate the activities of the various professional licensing and examination boards and commissions.  In 1979 (Ch. 79-36, Laws), with the dissolving of the Division of Occupations, the Division of Professions became responsible for all of the boards except the Florida Real Estate Commission.  The division now operates under the Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
    The mission of the Division of Professions is to protect the health, safety and welfare of those who live in and visit Florida by regulation of the professional licensees through education and compliance.
The division is responsible for the licensing of over 315,000 professionals and professions including architecture and interior design, asbestos consultants, athlete agents, auctioneers, barbers, building code administrators and inspectors, community association managers, construction industry, cosmetology, electrical contractors, employee leasing, farm and child labor program, funeral directors and embalmers, geologists, landscape architecture, pilots commissioners, pilots rate review, surveyors and mappers and veterinary medicine.  The division administers 15 professional boards, three department-regulated professions and one council.

    In 2002 the farm and child labor program was added to the Division of Professions by the Florida Legislature. The program provides statewide implementation of services and activities to help ensure that employers are providing quality services to minority labor groups and individuals to help reduce injury to and exploitation of workers.
