The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical Note:     The Capitol Improvement Commission was created in 1901 (Ch. 4893, Laws) to direct the repair and enlargement of the Capitol building in accordance with the plans of architect Frank P. Milburn.  Seventy-five thousand dollars was appropriated to construct additions to the north and south ends of the original building and to add the dome to what is currently referred to as the Old Capitol.  The Commission was dissolved in 1904, although the renovations were finished in 1903.
