The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical Note:     The Department of Financial Services (DFS) was created in January 2003 from the merging of the Department of Banking and Finance and the Department of Insurance. This merger was a result of a constitutional amendment approved by Florida voters in 1998. It consolidated the elected cabinet Office of the Treasurer and the Office of the Comptroller, creating the new cabinet post of Chief Financial Officer. The department oversees the state's accounting and auditing functions and helps consumers with problems related to financial services, including banking, securities and insurance.
