Biographical/Historical Note:     John Wayne Mixson, the thirty-ninth Governor of Florida, served from January 3 to January 6, 1987.  Under the terms of Article IV, Section 3(a) of the Florida Constitution, Mixson became governor upon Robert Graham's resignation to take the oath of office as U.S. Senator.  Mixson served in the Florida House of Representatives (1967-1978) before becoming Graham's Lieutenant Governor. In 1982, when Graham won re-election, Mixson became the first Lieutenant Governor to serve consecutive terms. From 1983 Mixson also served as Florida's Secretary of Commerce.
