The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical Note:     The Territorial Court of Appeals for the Territory of Florida was established by the United States Congress on May 26, 1824 (4 U.S. Statutes 45).  The Court was composed of the five Judges of the Superior Courts of the Districts of Florida (Eastern and Western, established 1822; Middle, 1824; Southern, 1828; and Apalachicola, 1838).  The Court first met on January 3, 1825.  The Court heard appeals from decisions rendered in the Superior Courts.  The Judges examined records of the proceedings and could reverse or affirm judgements, reward new trials, or pronounce new judgements.  The Territorial Court of Appeals was replaced by the Florida Supreme Court in 1845.
