State Archives of Florida Online Catalog

The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. 	Biographical/Historical Note:	The State Board of Pardons was created in 1885 (Article IV, Section 12, 1885 Constitution) to commute punishment, remit fines and forfeitures, and grant pardons after conviction in all cases except impeachment and treason. The Board also acted upon recommendations from the Parole Commission for clemency to parolees and reported to the Legislature a record of all pardons granted. The State Board of Pardons became the Office of Executive Clemency in 1975 (Article IV, Section 8, 1968 Constitution; Rules of Executive Clemency, Appendix to Title 27, Florida Administrative Code).
