The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical Note:     The Department of Environmental Regulation was created in 1975 (Ch. 75-22, Laws of Florida), assuming the duties of the Department of Pollution Control (Ch. 71-22, Laws).  It administered programs related to air quality, water quality and quantity, solid waste management, and natural resources protection, and it supervised the water management districts in Florida.  The Department issued environmental permits, monitored environmental conditions, provided technical assistance, and took enforcement action where violations of environmental laws or rules occurred.  In 1993, the responsibilities of the Department of Environmental Regulation and the Department of Natural Resources were combined under the new Department of Environmental Protection (Ch. 213, Laws).
