The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical Note:     In 1954, the Superintendent of Public Instruction organized the Division of Vocational and Adult Education to monitor and coordinate vocational programs statewide.  It was renamed the Division of Vocational, Technical, and Adult Education in 1957.  The Division of Vocational Education was established in 1969 (Ch. 69-106, Laws of Florida) and was succeeded by the Division of Vocational, Adult, and Community Education, created in 1984 (Ch. 84-336, Laws ) to ensure the greatest possible efficiency, effectiveness, and coordination of vocational, adult, and community education.
    The Division was renamed numerous times in the following years, being know at various times as the Division of Vocational, Adult, and Community Building; the DIvision of Applied Technology and Adult Education; the Division of Workforce Development; and, effective July 1, 2000, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, having assumed vocational rehabilitation functions previously falling under  the Department of Health and its predecessor, the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services.
