Title: Media 1979-23: "1956 Florida Folk Festival," 1956 (1955?); 18:30; B&W; silent: Begins with a history of Florida acted out by individuals dressed in period costumes, beginning with a conquistador and ending with a distinguished elderly gentleman. Florida Folk Festival scenes include dancers, choirs, storytellers and musicians. A troupe of children mount the stage dressed as conquistadors, pirates, and Indians. Three men march on stage with the Confederate flag, followed by female and male Navy enlistees. A gang of tap dancers demonstrates their fancy footwork; some are dressed as flappers. Two acoustic guitarists and a man playing stand-up lap steel guitar accompany a hula dancer, who shakes a coconut rattle. A band of faux Indians dance in front of The Foster Museum before joining real Seminoles in a dance on stage. Produced by the Stephen Foster Memorial Commission.
