Summary:     The series contains the orders issued from 1889 to 1962 by the Railroad and Public Utilities Commission and its predecessor agencies regarding rates, train station facilities, right-of-way, permits, and other regulations for railroads, telephone and telegraph companies, common carriers, and public utilities.
    There is an alphabetical index at the front of each volume, a separate subject index for 1907-1917, and an order index for 1901-1910.  After 1929, the transportation orders for common carriers are continued in Series 959.  There are also related telephone company orders from 1935 to 1961 in Series 1039.
