The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Division of Marketing was created in 1959 (Ch. 59-54, Laws) as part of the Dept. of Agriculture.  The Division assumed the responsibilities of the State Agricultural Marketing Board, created in 1929 (Ch. 13809, Laws).  After 1969, the Division continued as part of the Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer Services, the successor agency to the Dept. of Agriculture.  The duties of the Division include compiling reports on all farm products grown in Florida; obtaining and disseminating information on carrier rates and marketing centers; maintaining and operating a state market system; licensing and bonding dealers of agricultural products; and informing the public about recipes which use Florida food products.
Summary:   These videos and 16 mm films contain images which illustrate the activities of the Florida Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer Services, the DOACS Division of Forestry,  and the Florida Dept. of Natural resources.  Many of the films and tapes include the activities of Commissioner of Agriculture Doyle Conner who served in that office from 1960 to 1990.  They also include public service announcements and views of state and national history and events.  Some videos and many of the films contain information concerning the Pioneer Farm program, seafood marketing, and forest fires.
  These videos and films were stored at the DOACS Division of Marketing and Development without organization or arrangement.  There is no organizing principal inherent in the content and many have no dates.  Some have a number assigned but the meaning of those numbers has been lost.  Where they exist the numbers are included in the finding aid as is any text or date noted on the tape or film container.
