The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     In 1969, a group of faculty members launched the United Faculty of Florida (UFF) as a union to protect faculty from harassment from university administrators. In 1975, the Florida Education Association chartered the UFF to represent higher education teachers and personnel in the state. In 1976, the Florida Department of State certified UFF as a committee of continuing existence. The group is affiliated with the Florida Education Association, the American Federation of Teachers, and the AFL-CLO. There are several chapters throughout the state representing various colleges and universities.
Summary:     The collection contains the records created and maintained by the United Faculty of Florida. It includes correspondence, minutes, memoranda, reports, newsletters, newspaper clippings, membership lists, and grievances. The records heavily document the union's collective bargaining activities and its ongoing discord with the Board of Regents.
