The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Summary:     The series contains subject files, 1937-1949, of the Florida Industrial Commission.It consists of bulletins, memoranda, correspondence, manuals, and reports from the U.S. Social Security Board; U.S. Bureau of Employment Security; U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics; and the War Manpower Commission.
    The bulk of the materials are related to the operation of the Florida State Employment Service, the U.S. Employment Service, and the War Manpower Commission.  It documents the mobilization of labor for defense industries.  Topics include:  use of prisoners of war in lumber production; recruitment of women, minorities and elderly; importation of laborers from British Honduras; lists of essential activities and war occupations; placement of veterans; labor market demand and supply; and training programs.
