Biographical/Historical:     The Florida Legislature created the Tampa Bay Regional Transit Authority (TBARTA) in 2007 to develop and oversee a regionally integrated multimodal transportation system in Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, and Pinellas counties (Chapter 2007-254, Laws of Florida). The agency adopted its first Regional Transportation Master Plan in 2009 that proposed a regional transit network and updated the plan every two years to incorporate local and regional progress.

TBARTA operated until its board voted unanimously to dissolve by December 2023 due to lack of funding. During the 2023 legislative session, both the House and Senate agreed to dissolve the agency formally and designated the Florida Department of State as custodian of its records (Ch. 2023-143, Laws).

Summary:     These records document the discussions and activities of the Tampa Bay Regional Transit Authority during the course of its operations. The series includes minutes from meetings of the governing board and its committees, including Citizens Advisory, Executive, Finance, Policy, and Transit Management.
