The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     In 1927, the Florida Power Corporation emerged from a series of expansions of the St. Petersburg Electric Light and Power Company, established in 1899. The company distributed power over much of central and north Florida to residential, commercial, and industrial customers. In 1982, Florida Power reorganized as a holding company and became a subsidiary of Florida Progress Corporation. In 2000, Florida Progress merged with Carolina Power and Light, based in Raleigh, North Carolina, to become Progress Energy, Inc. In 2012, Progress Energy merged with Duke Energy to form the largest electric utility in the United States.

Summary:     This collection consists of photographic slides depicting miscellaneous building exteriors of Florida businesses and industries. The areas represented include St. Petersburg, Orlando, Clearwater, and others.
