Biographical/Historical:     Born in Floral City, Florida on December 14, 1916, Henry Hampton Dunn is best known as a journalist that lived in the Tampa Bay area during its explosive development and population boom while capturing it in photography as a journalist for various publications, including the Tampa Tribune, Florida Times Union, and Tampa Daily Times. Covering topics from sports reviews to wartime correspondence, Hampton Dunn then went on to edit monthly magazines as well as write and syndicate newsletters and magazine columns on a large array of subjects from Florida politics to history and genealogy, earning him the nickname "Mr. Florida". He died on February 3, 2002.

Summary:     The majority of this series contains photographic negatives and film reels that were taken by or were in the possession of journalist Henry Hampton Dunn. Subjects primarily covered are Florida historical sites and the Tampa Bay culture of the mid-20th century. There are also a number of other people and places captured as well, from local and state politicians to national figures.
