Biographical/Historical:     The first hospital in Tallahassee, Florida, was Johnston's Sanitarium and Nurses Home, built by Dr. Kent Johnston around 1924, at 805 North Gadsden Street. It later became the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital and then the Forsyth Memorial Sanitarium & Hospital. The hospital remained in operation until Tallahassee Memorial Hospital opened in 1949, after which the building continued to serve as a nursing home.
Summary:     This collection contains the real estate appraisal of Johnston's Sanitarium and Nurses Home in Tallahassee, Florida. The appraisal is dated October 30, 1946, and the appraiser is listed as J. Edwin White. The appraisal includes floor plans and four exterior photographs of the buildings.
