Biographical/Historical:     Gerald Nelson Nulton (1906-1999) enlisted in the Reserve Corps of the United States Army at age 18 in Plattsburg, New York. He served from December 9, 1925 until his honorable discharge on December 19, 1928. In September 1926, Nulton was in Miami, most likely as a part of the U.S. Army relief efforts after the "Great Miami Hurricane" devastated the area. While there, Nulton documented some of the extensive damage through photographs.

Summary:     This collection consists of photographs documenting the hurricane damage in Miami after the September 1926 hurricane. Originally housed and arranged within a photo album, the photographs depict damage to buildings, ships, and automobiles. Most of the photos have inscriptions on the back that describe the image. The collection also contains scans of labels from the album pages that describe the first 35 photographs.
