The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Summary:     The series contains receipt and disbursement journals maintained by the Treasurer's Office from 1845 to 1920 for recording all financial transactions and indicating the special accounts to which they belonged.  This series is missing the volumes from 1854 to 1872 and from 1915 to 1918.
    Over the seventy-five year span of this series, the format changes slightly, but the informational content remains essentially the same.  The volumes provide the following information: the date, the account identifier, the amount debited or credited to the account, the date of the transaction, and the monthly balance.  The types of funds changed over the years, generally becoming more specific; although some funds remained constant, such as general revenue.
