Biographical/Historical:     In 1987, dancer and choreographer Babs Case founded the Center for the Arts in Stuart, Florida, a performance and visual arts center that provided arts education, workshops, performances and galleries. One of its programs was Live Literature, a literary performing art series in which internationally-known poetry and prose authors would read excerpts from and speak about their work. Kenith Crawford, a poet, songwriter and musician, coordinated the visiting authors series from 1988 to 1991.

Summary:     This collection consists of the various materials collected and maintained by Ken Crawford as a scrapbook to document the Live Literature Series. The records provide information about the visiting authors and their works, as well as other events that celebrated the spoken word such as "A Night of a Thousand Stars" and ArtsFest. The types of records include author biographies, event programs and handouts, photographs of each author at their event, news clippings and press releases, and correspondence from the authors to Ken Crawford regarding their appreciation for his efforts.
