Biographical/Historical:     Pulse was a gay bar and nightclub in Orlando, Florida, founded in 2004 by Barbara Poma and Ron Legler. On June 12, 2016, a mass shooting occurred at the club, resulting in 49 people killed and 53 injured. On June 24, Governor Risk Scott directed that 49 state flags be flown for 49 days in front of the Florida Historic Capitol in Tallahassee, with the name, age and photo of every victim displayed underneath each flag.

    Rick Scott was elected Florida's 45th Governor in November 2010, running on a platform of increasing private-sector employment and reducing the size and cost of government. Scott was re-elected to a second term in November 2014.

    Rick Scott was born on December 1, 1952 in Bloomington, Illinois and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. Scott enlisted in the Navy after high school and a year of community college. After completing over two years of Navy service, Scott earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, then a law degree from Southern Methodist University.

    Scott practiced corporate law in Dallas, specializing in health care mergers and acquisitions. In 1987 he established Columbia Hospital Corporation. He later acquired Hospital Corporation of America and merged the businesses in 1989 to form Columbia/HCA. After leaving Columbia/HCA in 1997, Scott bought and sold a number of companies. In 2001 he co-founded Solantic Corporation, a network of urgent care centers.
