Biographical/Historical:     The State Board of Cosmetology was created in 1963 (Ch. 63-195, Laws).  It assumed the duties of its predecessor boards, the State Board of Beauty Culture Examiners (1935, Ch. 16800, Laws) and the State Board of Beauty Culture (1943, Ch. 21984, Laws).  In 1969, it became part of the Division of Occupations in the Dept. of Professional and Occupational Regulation (Ch. 69-106, Laws).  Its duties are to conduct examinations; to issue, renew, suspend, and revoke certificates of registration, to establish and enforce rules and regulations for the practice of cosmetology; and to assist in investigations and disciplinary cases.
Summary:     The series contains the violation hearing files of the State Board of Cosmetology from 1967 to 1972.  The records document violations of rules, regulations, and sanitary requirements set by the Board as it governed the practice of cosmetology.  The records includes minutes, orders, transcripts, and correspondence.
