Biographical/Historical:     The Board of Examiners in the Basic Sciences was created in 1939 (Ch. 19281, Laws) and abolished in 1967 (Ch. 67-596, Laws). It administered a basic sciences examination to practitioners of the healing arts and issued certificates of proficiency in the basic sciences to successful candidates.  The subject areas tested were anatomy, physiology, chemistry, pathology, and bacteriology.  The certificate was a prerequisite required by the Florida licensing boards.  Exempted from the examination were dentists, pharmacists, nurses, optometrists, podiatrists, and christian scientists. Although the Board was abolished in 1967, it administered the examinations until 1969.
Summary:     The series contains the financial records of the Board of Examiners of the Basic Sciences from 1961 to 1968.  The records include expenditures, receipts, and ledgers.
