Biographical/Historical:     Claude Pepper (1900-1989) was a Congressman from Florida. He graduated from Harvard Law School and practiced law in Florida prior to entering politics. He served in the United States Senate from 1936 to 1951, and he served in the United States House of Representatives from 1963 until 1989.

Summary:     This collection includes five letters and three transcripts of radio addresses by Senator Claude Pepper. The first letter was sent from Pepper to William Thomas Cash on February 1, 1941, regarding the speech transcripts. These transcripts are from three radio addresses, dated January 22, 1941, January 25, 1941, and January 26, 1941. These radio addresses are about Pepper's public feelings towards World War II and democracy. The second letter, dated March 11, 1950, was sent from Claude Pepper to Dr. Dorothy Dodd regarding his support of the State Library and Dr. Dodd's efforts and assistance in his campaign for re-election.

    The third and four letters were sent from Pepper to Kenneth Ballenger of the Miami Herald in August, 1937 in response to Ballenger's articles about him. The fifth letter is unaddressed and undated, and asks for support during his 1937 campaign.
