Biographical/Historical:     Orin W. Sadler, Jr. (1882-1963) was the son of Dr. Orin W. Sadler, Sr. (1843-1929), a Pittsburg doctor. Dr. Sadler moved to Mount Dora, Florida, with his wife Emma Josephine Slocum Sadler and their two children in 1884. While his father worked between Mount Dora and Pittsburg as he continued his medical practice, Orin W. Sadler, Jr. assisted his parents with the family's orange groves. He was eventually elected as representative of Lake County in the Florida Citrus Exchange. His occupation on the 1935 census was listed as a registered civil engineer.

Summary:     This collection includes a handwritten letter, along with a typed copy, from Orin W. Sadler, Jr. to Dr. Cornelia Clapp regarding the preservation of foods through pressure. He outlines evidence that he should receive recognition for his experimentation with pressure preservation methods of food storage, also known as pascalization.
