Biographical/Historical:     John Grillon (1818-1854) was a French immigrant who settled in Key West, Florida. He married Charlotte Septima Marie Phillippi (1820-1899), the daughter of Odet Phillippi. Together, they had five children, including Odet Grillon (1846-1913) and Martha Grillon (1855-1936). The Grillon family remained prominent residents of Florida, with Odet Grillon and his wife, Alice, settling in Hillsborough County. In Key West, John Grillon was the keeper of a sailor boarding house. The 1850 census lists the residents of this boarding house under the Grillon family household.
Summary:     This collection consists of records of the Grillion family, as well as records relating others who lived in the Grillon households and sailor boarding home, from 1843, 1849, 1851 to 1853, 1856, 1866, 1887 to 1888, 1898, and 1904. The records include the marriage license of Odet Grillon, pension records, deeds, payment receipts, permits, and letters.
