The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The first Governor's Computer Conference was held on June 23, 1964, in Tallahassee.  The Conference was held to assist in planning for Florida's collective efforts to implement a State Information System during the early 1960s.  Soon after, a Steering Committee was established to help assist in planning additional conference and in coordinating the overall efforts.  In planning for the statewide effort in the field of data processing, the Conferences sought to reach the following  goals:  "the standardization of terms, identification of items of information, and the control of units and officers allowed manipulation power over the data."
Summary:     The series contains subject files and publications gathered by the Governor's Computer Conference Steering Committee, spanning the administrations of Governors Farris Bryant and Haydon Burns.  The most significant records in the series are the steering committee's recommendations.
