Summary:     This collection provides information about the early- to mid-20th century lives of Myrtis (sometimes spelled Myrtice) Cook Strickland and her husband Roy Lafayette Strickland in the Concord/Havana and Tallahassee areas of Florida. Of note in the collection are four school notebooks of Myrtis "Myrt" Cook and her younger sister Thelma L. Cook from 1923-1926 containing notes and essays on history, biology, and agriculture as well as jokes and scripts for several short plays.

    Among other items in the collection are postcards written to the Stricklands from family and friends between 1926 and 1948; an issue of the Daily Democrat dated October 7, 1941, printed on a hand-cranked mimeograph machine due to a power outage caused by a hurricane; programs for Havana High School graduation and commencement activities, 1936-1938; and "A Pictorial History of the Florida Hurricane" containing 47 photographs of Miami in the aftermath of the devastating and deadly September 18, 1926 hurricane.
