Biographical/Historical:     At its peak, the Live Oak, Perry and Gulf Railroad (LOP&G) extended 74 miles from Live Oak to Flint Rock, Florida (Jefferson County). It also had two branches, the Mayo Branch from Mayo Junction to Alton (14 miles), and the mile-long Foley Branch between Foley Junction and Foley, Florida. The shortline railroad had 42 scheduled trains on its timetables during the Florida boom years.

In its early years, the LOP&G billed itself as the Mineral Springs Route for mineral springs resort hotels at Dowling Park and Hampton Springs. The railroad later billed itself as the Suwannee River Route because it crossed that river at Dowling Park and served most of the Suwannee River Valley. The LOP&G was affiliated with the lumber industry throughout its existence, first with the Dowling Lumber Company in the mid-1890s, then the Standard Lumber Company headed by Richard W. Sears, retired founder of Sears, Roebuck & Company, and finally the Brooks-Scanlon Lumber Company at Foley in 1928.

Summary:     This collection consists of railroad timetables documenting operations of the Live Oak, Perry and Gulf Railroad. Each timetable is a single sheet printed front and back. In practice, these timetables were folded and stuck in the train crews' pockets for quick reference, but this collection is an unfolded office set. The timetables provide a broad range of unique information such as what types of trains ran and when, distances between stations, special instructions intended to ensure safe operation of the trains, locations where the Live Oak, Perry and Gulf crossed other railroads, and names of the railroad officers, from train dispatchers up to the president of the company.
